I can tell it has, because I've forgotten how to use Mediafire and Blogger. Well I've had a dissagreement with music over the last few months, but finally, music has started to see things my way. That stubborn bastard. Surfer Blood - Swim Surfer Blood - Floating Vibes
I have a man crush in my life... Jeremy Clarkson, the man drives me crazy, ever since I started reading his book's, I've realized how much I want to be like that man...Yes opinionated and pig-headed, but also ridiculously observant and quick witted. But now I have two man crushes... The second Alex Metric. This bastard is amazing, everything he touches is magical and makes me smile and do the office chair rave... which more than often ends with the rest of the office staff staring at me... Today one of my new fav artist's did a cover of his new single "It Start's". That's right Primary 1 woot! It's a great cover giving the track a new kind of Energy which puts me a new state of bliss... the new office chair shuffle and scuttle... Anyway heres some awesome tracks which will make you understand my love for Mr. Metric...Just remember that Alex's full-length album also finally releases this year... Can't wait for that any longer Alex hurry
These three (formly four) brit's can't do wrong in my eye's with the release of their Ep "Lies" last year they showed us they meant business lets hope they can keep it up this year with hopefully there debut full length album...
These kids are something special, so much so that they are being produced by the
same producers who worked on Bloc Party's second album "A Weekend In The City". Their tracks are awesomely catchy and will have you signing along in no time...
Please DON'T suck factor five here...The single of NYPC's new album is alright, it is greatly helped along by a good music video. But there is almost a dire need for this album to be good...I mean its been 3 years guys, really 3 years since your debut and if its not the second coming, a lot of us, most of us, are going to be completely justified in not bothering with it...well until someone does a really good remix at least. But really I want you to be good.
Once in a while you here something that just captures you by the gut and that is Primary 1, his track "Foaming" hit me in the face and that was that. Primary 1 is the brilliant Joe Flory, a 21 year old newbie producer, who creates super awesome synthfunk winners, easily remembered for their sharp creative lyrics and danceable beats. Joe has stolen my heart and lets hope he can steal a few more this year with new tracks and more great collaboration's with his mate Riton...
We, the Fatchineseboi team, wanna apologize for sleepin' on ya'll and not posting in way way way to long... we are all experiencing difficulty with our day jobs...
Fear not, we shall return to our former glory like a phoenix rising out a pigeon coop... and just to remind ya'll that we still love ya... here's a track that we dropped the other night at Kitchener's that really went off. enjoi.
Now that I've got your attention that monkey bot up there is what I want for christmas.
I do believe I've given y'all a fair amount of time too locate the toy, save money and purchase it.
Come the morning of December 25th, I will tolerate no excuses.
I thought I'd profile some tracks from Siriusmo, swing beating prince of Berlin.
Info on him is scant online (oh for the day when Germans will be allowed access too Wikpedia), so I guess I'll let his music do the communicating.
In my opinion, he's way better than that mono-browed freak Boys Noise, and just ahead of Modeselektor. It is also rare for an electronic artist to have such unique and easily identifiable traits in there music, especially in an industry of imitators and copy-cats.
Barry mentioned that he was loving some "Real Music" that was given to him recently, I think it was Roy Ayers and some other Rhythm and Blues legend, sorry the degradation of my short term memory seems to be only over-shadowed by the collapse of my long-term memory.
In turn I said "Damn thats my school, son!", so here are some gems all fans of music should have just to remind themselves that unfortunately music will never be like this again.
First up are a couple tracks from Cymande a jazz, funk and soul band formed in London, but did tour the states with Rev. Al Green and reached no. 20 on the R&B charts in the early 70's.
Bra was sampled by De La Soul/Prince Paul on Three Feet High and Rising, in the good old days when you could sample what you wanted without fear of lawsuits.
The next is from Darondo, still performing in his native San Francisco and it's a little more down tempo, but one of the more heart wrenchingly beautiful soul tracks committed to tape.
I recently heard this at the end of an episode of Breaking Bad, so if you know the show it captures the mood of a meth cooking, science teacher with lung cancer who does what he does in order to provide for his family.
Kind of downer but the beauty of the track disperses the depression effortlessly, one of my favourite songs and I'll take that too the grave.
The last track is some Afrobeat, this track sparked my interest in the genre when I heard it in The Last King of Scotland, It sparked my interest in the genre and I've since been hoovering up any old Afrobeat tracks that will venture near me, but not quite like this guy Duncan Brooker.
An article on his record collecting scavenger hunts in north africa is here, give it a read it's rather inspiring and reminds me of Lapse and I's, old scavenger hunts in Durban, digging through dead peoples stuff for records and wondering how we could play our 78's.
As far as music bloggers go, I think I'm not a very good one. See "real" music bloggers should get the latest and greatest tracks up on the blog before the artists themselves have even heard the final master copy... well that's the general vibe around it. I dont... making me seem like a selfish bastard that sits on tracks and releases for a good long while before sharing it with our dear readers... well this is one half true... who cares what the other half is.
This special edition of loose change catches up on all the great stuff Ive been sitting on... in case you've known better and thought Ive been sleeping on it. What makes this an even more "special" special edition is that Lapse finally did his first post today... "OMG" "WTF"
My second favourite album of 2k9 gets some special remixes from Turbo records MVPs.
Two big names, I find hilarious for different reasons join forces to create something of monster... spawning some vicious remixes... heres the choice picks
Last but not least... some Wu Tang... remember them? Apparently they have a line of lego products coming out soon... umm anyways... We should all already have the brilliant remix Yuksek did for UGods new album... but definately not this lost Felix Cartal remix... Its rare and pretty good... good way to end this special edition of loose change... so dont spend it all at once. U-God - Hips (Felix Cartal Remix) (Zshare)(MediaFire)
Since you've made it reading this far, a quick reminder that Belushi and ShuffleShame are playing tomorrow night at the Milner Park Hotel in Braamfontein... also known as Kitcheners Carvery... peep the details.
So one of my bestest things about SA, is that we are very backwater, we catch onto things late and we tend to only do things, if they fit into our boxes of "cool". Everyone has to be inside a box, emo, alt, hipster, raver, jock, rapper...blahblahblah. Gone are the days where you can listen to more than one type of music, maybe its a youth thing, maybe when you get older you learn to appreciate more and realise that whoa I understand what the person is trying to get thourgh with this music..or maybe not. At the moment U have a large amout of respect for anyone who steps onto the stage and preforms or dj's or raps, its fucken scary. So please kids get over yourselves and try be more understanding. My friend Malope Makola and his friends seem to think the same thing....well about Hip Hop at least, but instead of moan about it they instead decided to shot a short docci abou how they felt. It was shot with a budget of "Seven Rand" so dont expect a master pic, but I will tell you one thing the contents of this little project is amazing. After watching this we plan to do a range of docci's on all the sub-cultures in and around Jozi..
OK guys so in the hood they call me "lil Ghost Poster", my shit's so ill and so underground only real G, G, G Mail unit heads read it....Ok, Ok enough Diggy Dawg-ness, here it is.
Mr Vega is from Brooklyn, Mr. Vega is three people namely his wife, child and himself, apparently his kid did the bassline on "Metal Sparks" at only a few months old....Ok i'm talking shit again.
Anyway his stuff is bangin Indie/Electro House straight outta NYC!
And lucky for us he's decided to give away his Debut Album "Live Dance Then Die" for Gratis (I think that means free...)
As an alternative to shilling out 100clams to see a Dj you've never heard of, Jhb's and Cpt's greatest dj's will be throwing a party this saturday at Kitcheners Carvery.
It'll cost you at the most 20clams, that leaves you a spare 80clams to get CRUNK!
